This collection contains the papers of two women, both of whom were named Martha Rivers Adams. Mrs. Adams, the mother (1882-1959) was editor of the women's page of the Lynchburg (Va.) News. The papers of and relating to Mrs. Adams include: 4 stories written by her; lists of Lynchburgers who served in World War I and of men registered with the Draft Board; letter from James Southall Wilson; copies of her newspaper column "Browsings"; and obituaries of Mrs. Adams. The papers of Miss Adams include her scrapbook from her senior year in high school (1925-1926). There are also two other scrapbooks in the collection, which probably belonged to Miss Adams, which contain mementos of various parties and plays in Lynchburg.
